About us

CACS counsellors' and therapists' orientation and training is rooted in ‘psychodynamic’ or ‘psychoanalytic' practice. This means that we work with the roots of difficulties, which are often located below the threshold of conscious awareness. It also means that any one of us will have undergone an extensive theoretical and practical training including a significant period of personal therapy or counselling; and therefore we know what it is like to be clients or patients as well as therapists. How we work is further detailed on the 'counselling and therapy with cacs' page.

As reputably trained and experienced counsellors and psychotherapists with established private practices we work within a strict ethical code by which we are bound to maintain the highest standards of practice. We are all members of organisations (see below) through which we can if necessary be held accountable via a complaints procedure.

Our training and expertise is in individual counselling and therapy with adults or couples, and we are normally able also to recommend other types of therapy (e.g. family therapy and behavioural therapy), if this is a more appropriate course of action.

All our counsellors and therapists are either members of UKCP, BACP and/or BPC. Our training backgrounds include SAP (Society of Analytical Psychology), and WPF Counselling and Psychotherapy) whose graduates are members of FPC (Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling).
